Calendar of the Moon
Altar: Upon a red cloth set a large mug of beer, four torches, and as many weapons as are to be
found in the House.
Offerings: Confront one's hidden rage.
Daily Meal: Spicy food.
Invocation to Cuchulain
(Those who would aid in the ritual should take up weapons and clash them together after every
line spoken. At the end, clash them three times and lower them to the ground, them return them
to the altar.)
Hail, chosen warrior of the Morrigan!
Hail, bringer of battle rage!
Hail, Hound of Culain!
You who slew the Hound
And became one in his stead,
You who were defeated only by treachery,
Greatest in battle
But faithful to woman,
Greatest in slaughter
But undone by a naked breast,
Greatest in victory
But defeated by thoughtlessness,
Coming youngest to glory
And youngest to death,
Embody for us the courage of youth
That we may call upon it
Throughout our lives.
Hail, Cuchulain, shooting like a fiery arrow,
Brave and foolish,
Strong and ephemeral
As a shooting star in the sky.
(As the weapons are clashed for the final time, all let forth a battle-cry; "Cuchulain!". The beer
is poured as a libation, and the torches doused in the well.)
