Invocation to Diana Melissa
Hail, Lady of the Honeybee,
Queen of all you survey,
Leader of a thousand diligent daughters,
Tended by a hundred adoring consorts,
Birthing a dozen a day,
Giver of abundant life from your own body,
Yet you are no weak maiden,
No mother to be trod upon;
You are sharp of sting and swift of flight,
You lead an army more well armed
Than any human battle. Golden queen,
We ask for your courage, your conviction,
Your dedication to your sacred task,
The loyalty you inspire, the sweetness
You pour forth. We would gladly be
Your retainers, if you would bless us.
Diana Melissa, protect us from
The stings and bites of life's misfortune,
And anoint our lips with honey,
That we might taste divinity
During our short mortal days.
Gather our souls like nectar
And turn them into gold;
Gather our hearts like pollen
And fertilize a new and golden future.
Chant: Diana Diana Queen of the Hive
(All join hands and move in a spiral dance, chanting, to the center of the room and out again.
Then the honey is passed around, and the mead is poured out as a libation.)
